On becoming άλφα

The term ‘alpha’ comes with stigma. It is really a metaphor for becoming the best person you can be. You 2.0. In order to have control over your relationship, career, or any other aspect of your life, you MUST have control over yourself. Fundamentally, assume an assertive outlook in order to succeed. If anything, err on the side of aggression and NOT passivity.

For the ordinary man is passive. Within a narrow circle (home life, and perhaps the trade unions or local politics) he feels himself master of his fate, but against major events he is as helpless as against the elements. So far from endeavoring to influence the future, he simply lies down and lets things happen to him.

My point is beautifully captured by Author, George Orwell. “So far from endeavoring to influence the future”. This single line describes 90% of our population, and incidentally the basis of the beta. I will be writing about the ways of a beta in a later post.

Assertion is one of many qualities of an alpha. Other attributes include (but are not confined to), confidence, ambition, adaptability, dexterity and will.

Here is a list of things to deeply consider, now that you have taken your first step to becoming Empirewon.

1. Be decisive. Get your head out of your arse. Stop making excuses, if you plan on doing something, DO IT. Have you ever noticed that some people manage to fill their days with activities whilst other sit at home wasting away into the lard buffering sofa. It’s not a coincidence that these people fail at life whilst the former succeed.

2. Realise your focus. Whatever it is you’re doing in life, understand what it is you’re there to do, and make sure you become the best at it. If it involves maiming your rivals, at least you’re taking a productive step towards your goals. If it involves selling your girlfriend in order to obtain investment capital, at least you’re taking a productive step towards your goals. Once a mans goals fade into the background, so does the man.

3. Visualise. We’ve all heard of the secret. Once you get past the gift wrapped marketing crap, and bore to the naked message, it really does make a lot of sense. If you constantly think in negatives, only negative things will happen (not accounting for sheer luck). If you are positive and proactive hell, bad things may happen, but their occurrence will be overshadowed by the positive things in your life. Alun Sugar often seems as charismatic as your 90 year old grandmother, post enema. On the inside, he’s calculated and unflappable.

Note: Don’t make the mistake of visualising failure, and attempting to do the opposite. See yourself in that grand office, head CEO. Visualise your wealth, or your relationships, or even just your good health. The following steps then become logical, and not abstract.

Others: Cold approach people. If you feel yourself stricken with fear, face it with your chin up. Stop watching daytime television. Invest time in art and music. Introduce culture into your life. Read Robert Greene, Niell Strauss, The Game etc, Watch Fight Club, Wall Street, James Bond. Study these characters. Understand what makes them tick. Next, see yourself as them, and what you could achieve with a simple bent of attitude.
